Our Methods
Lakeside Baptist Preschool uses a blend of Montessori and traditional methods as a basis for curriculum. Montessori encourages learning through all five senses and approaches learning as an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline and a love of learning. Control of error is built into manipulative materials and charts, encouraging self-confidence and independence.
Goals for Our Children
Goals for Our Children
- understand the classroom rules of safety and respect: walking, rather than running, in the classroom; using a quiet voice rather than shouting; speaking and acting kindly to others - no hurting my name-calling or hitting/kicking
- choose work, follow through, and return work to its place (which helps develop concentration and order)
- respect the work of others by not interrupting and assisting - only when invited
- respect the rights of others by being able to listen and participate in group activities by taking turns
- cooperate with teachers by being able to listen to simple instructions such as, "come and sit on the line for music time," without ignoring or talking back
